Rattan Furniture From Indonesia
By Sam Cyrus

Ratan furniture is one kinds of furniture generally coming from tropical country. Most of rattan furniture comes from Indonesia. There are many kinds of style for the rattan furniture from: cane, wicker, seagrass, water hyacinth, abaca, and banana. The rattan furniture is manufactured with innovative design to the highest construction standards, ensuring comfort and durability.

Talking about rattan furniture, you might ask : What is the rattan ? Rattan is among the oldest natural furniture material in use today. Rattan is a solid timber vine that harvested from tropical palms found primarily in Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Malaysia. Rattans are climbing palms that provide the raw material for the cane-furniture industry. Sometimes confused with bamboo, canes can usually be distinguished because they are solid, whereas bamboos are almost always hollow. Although there are some climbing palms in the New World, the true rattans are restricted to the Old World tropics and subtropics. They are particularly abundant in South-east Asia and the Malay Archipelago.

Rattan furniture is made by exploiting hardier of the rattan stems grow in long and solid vines. These long fibers can be woven into baskets or over metal frames to form the seats and backs of chairs, tables, shelving units, and headboards. For centuries, imported furnishings made of both materials were popular with the British Kingdom when the Empire was a formidable world power which colonized India. In the United States, these kinds of natural fiber furnishings may have become more popular when U.S. troops brought articles home from the Philippines, one of four islands which produce a third of the world's rattan. The beauty and durability of tropical fibers make them a favorite for residential and commercial use. Beautifully designed exterior furnishings of the rattan furniture can be found in private homes, hotels, resorts, health clubs, vacation villas, or beachfront condominiums.

When choosing good rattan furniture, generally Indonesian rattan wood is the best option. Quality of the Indonesian rattan has color symmetry, flexible, no black spot, no cracking and good pressure. Rattan furniture is basically pure hand-knit, so technology will have a direct impact on the quality and appearance of furniture. Good rattan wood smooth surface feel comfortable, not thorn in hand, paint color uniform, consistent thickness, and some pins finer cloth, thread and tidy close.
